Notes: Sean Kelley Talk

A Few Take Aways from Sean Kelley

Invest in Pencils, and Keep a Sketchbook on Hand.

Make a habit of sketching anywhere and anytime. A part of staying fresh with ideas, involves consistently exercising this habit, and being ready to draw inspiration from anything.

Have a Good Editing Chain.

Never skip on the editing process. Always spell check and proofread your own work. Have another set of eyes look things over. Depending on the scope of the project, you can vary the number of people to include in this process.

Know What Battles to Fight.

Sometimes you have to let go of choosing the easiest solution for a design, because of a client’s non-negotiable terms. You never know, it could push you to create a really fresh and awesome concept that you wouldn’t have otherwise arrived at.

Don’t Be Afraid to Let it Go.

Know the cost and value of time invested in a project. When the time and energy expended on a project, exceed the benefits and effectiveness it may be time to let it go.
